Alastair Smith

Managing Partner

Alastair has been the Managing Partner of Frostrow since its launch in 2007 and has been involved in the investment company sector since 1995. Prior to this he was Managing Director of Close Finsbury Asset Management Ltd., part of the Close Brothers Group plc, with responsibility for a range of investment trusts and Dublin-domiciled open-ended funds. From 1997 to 2000 he was with Schroder Investment Management Ltd. as Head of Investment Trust Operations. Alastair qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1989 and worked in the London and Hong Kong offices between 1990 and 1997.

Grant Challis

Partner

Grant has been a Partner of Frostrow since its launch in 2007. Grant was previously Director of Business Development in the Investment Trust team at Close Finsbury Asset Management Ltd., having been a consultant since 2004. Prior to founding a specialist financial services consultancy in 2001, Grant spent three years as a management consultant at KPMG Consulting. Before that, he was a corporate financier at Guinness Mahon & Co. Ltd. (now part of Investec Plc) and subsequently at Charterhouse Tilney (acquired by ING Baring in 2000). Grant was educated at Stellenbosch and Oxford Universities.

Tracy Arthur

Partner

Tracy has been a Partner of Frostrow since its launch in 2007. Tracy initially joined the Investment Management division of Rea Brothers Group Plc in 1998, just prior to the acquisition by Close Brothers Group plc in 1999. She has held various roles including Senior Investment Fund Accountant and Senior Manager, Operations. Prior to that, Tracy spent two years as Assistant Financial Controller at Tertio Ltd., an information technology consultancy. A qualified accountant (FCCA), Tracy also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) and has an MBA.

Mark Pope

Partner

Mark has been a Partner of Frostrow since its launch in 2007. Mark was previously at Close Finsbury Asset Management Ltd. in 2006 and was part of the Company Secretarial team responsible for five investment trusts. Mark spent over 20 years at Morgan Grenfell (acquired by Deutsche Bank in 1989) and, from 1994, he acted as Company Secretary for three investment trusts. Prior to that, his roles included foreign exchange dealing for asset management clients and portfolio administration. Mark commenced his career spending five years at Lloyds TSB. Mark is a Chartered Company Secretary and holds the ACIS qualification.

Eleanor Cranmer

Partner

Eleanor joined Frostrow in 2011 and has been involved with investment companies since 1989. From 2003 she worked for AXA Investment Managers, with responsibility for the company secretarial functions for AXA Framlington’s investment trusts as well as all the UK companies in the AXA Investment Managers group. Prior to that, she was Head of the company secretarial department at Govett Investment Management. Eleanor qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, where she managed the audits for a range of clients, including a number of investment trusts. Eleanor read Classics at Cambridge.

Juber Miah

Investment Fund Accountant

Juber joined Frostrow in 2010 as an Investment Fund Accountant in a middle office role, primarily to oversee the operations of third party administrators. Juber has over 20 years of experience in similar middle office and accounting roles and first encountered investment companies in 2002. Prior to Frostrow, Juber worked at State Street Trust Bank, Close Brothers Group plc, SocGen Asset Management and Schroders. Juber holds the Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ).

Victoria Hale

Company Secretary, Governance and Compliance

Victoria joined Frostrow in 2012 from Hermes Fund Managers, where she spent three years as one of three company secretaries responsible for over 150 trading entities. Prior to that, Victoria spent three years with JP Morgan Asset Management and, from 2006, acted as assistant company secretary to 6 investment trusts. Victoria commenced her career spending three years at WS Atkins plc and a further year at Mouchel Parkman plc. Victoria is a Chartered Secretary, has a Master's in Corporate Governance and holds the ACG qualification.

Sarah Smale

Compliance Manager

Sarah joined Frostrow in 2013, initially providing support to both the compliance officer and the company secretarial team.  Following her personal development within Frostrow and 10 years of experience working in financial services, Sarah now has a dedicated compliance role, supporting the compliance officer.  Sarah has a wide range of skills and knowledge acquired after previously having worked for over 20 years in the company secretarial departments of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies, including RAC plc and Centrica plc.  Sarah is currently studying with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments.

Ben Rigg

Senior Manager

Ben joined Frostrow in 2015 after three years at Fidelity, where he was responsible for the financial reporting to the Fidelity UK Board and financial control for Fidelity’s UK entities.

Prior to that, Ben was at Grant Thornton where he was responsible for managing the audit relationships with a range of financial services clients, including several investment trusts and fund management houses. Ben has over 10 years’ experience in financial services and is a qualified accountant (FCA).

Katherine Manson

Company Secretary

Katherine joined Frostrow in 2015 after two years at TMF Group where she acted as company secretary to two investment trusts, amongst other clients. Prior to that, Katherine held assistant company secretary positions at Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP, where she was responsible for over 100 entities, and Direct Line Group plc during the preparation for its IPO. She started her corporate secretarial career at NHS Kensington and Chelsea. Katherine is a Chartered Secretary and holds the FCG qualification.

Carla Sierra

Investment Fund Accountant

Carla joined Frostrow in 2015 as an Investment Fund Accountant. This followed 8 years at BNP Paribas as an Investment Trust Accountant for Witan Investment Trust, plus various BlackRock Funds. Prior to BNP Paribas, Carla was at Schroders for 9 years in the Investment Trust department as an Assistant Manager, with responsibilities for various Schroder Investment Trusts.

Matthew Burrows

Director – Investor Relations and Marketing

Prior to this, Matthew worked at Standard Life Wealth as a Senior Client Portfolio Manager, managing discretionary portfolios for private clients, pensions, charities and trusts. He also has previous experience managing both institutional and private clients’ portfolios on a discretionary basis, as well as with non-discretionary portfolio management. Matthew holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is a CFA Charterholder.

Before moving into the financial services industry, Matthew graduated from the University of Bristol with a BA (Hons) Degree with Oral Distinction in Russian Studies and afterwards commissioned into the British Army, serving with the Coldstream Guards.

Kerstin Rucht

Company Secretary

Kerstin joined Frostrow in 2018. Kerstin was previously at Invesco Asset Management from 2003 to 2011 as part of the Company Secretarial team responsible for a number of investment trusts and, again, from 2016 to 2017 as a member of the Invesco Group company secretariat. Prior to that, she worked in the company secretarial departments of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies such as Lloyds Banking Group, Hammerson plc and Vesuvius plc.

Kerstin is a Chartered Company Secretary and holds the FCG qualification as well as an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and an MA from Frankfurt University.

Henry Jin

Senior Manager

Henry joined Frostrow in January 2019 after nearly two years at Electra Private Equity PLC, where he was responsible for the group financial reporting and treasury functions. Prior to that, Henry was a Group Accountant at UBM plc (now part of Informa Plc), having spent three years previously as an auditor in the financial services industry at Deloitte LLP in London. Henry is a qualified accountant (ACA) and holds a MSc in Banking and International Finance.

Tasmin Arthurton

Assistant Company Secretary

Tasmin joined Frostrow in November 2020 as an Assistant Company Secretary.

Tasmin started her company secretarial career at South Essex Homes Limited, a subsidiary of Southend Borough Council, in an Executive Assistant (“EA”) and board support role supporting a board of 11 members for three years, before moving on to another combined EA role carrying out company secretarial duties and entity management for over 130 special purpose vehicles at Armstrong Capital Management Limited for two years. Most recently she supported the Quilter plc Company Secretariat on a fixed term contract basis, providing support to the team at both plc and subsidiary company level.

Tasmin is a Chartered Secretary and holds the ACG qualification.

Amalia Isaacs

Assistant Company Secretary

Amalia joined Frostrow as an Assistant Company Secretary in February 2021. Amalia started her career back in 2010 and has over 10 years’ experience working within financial services, having previously held roles at Capita Plc, a FTSE 100 company, Apex Group (formerly known as Link Asset Services Limited) and Ocorian (UK) Limited. Amalia's expertise included the fund administration of 100+ clients and management of special purpose vehicles across her various corporate services roles, supporting Company Secretaries, Partners and a wider operational team.

Paul Griggs

Company Secretary

Paul joined Frostrow in 2021. He was previously Senior Investment Trust Company Secretary at Invesco Asset Management, where he had been from 2011, and before that was Head of Investment Trust Company Secretariat at Gartmore Investment Limited, having joined Gartmore in 1994 as a Company Secretary and Accountant. Paul trained as a Chartered Accountant in New Zealand with KPMG and is a member of the institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Auckland University.

Richard Plaskett

Partner, Head of Investment Companies

Richard joined Frostrow in 2021 from J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he was a Managing Director in the investment trust team.  There he was responsible for a number of client investment trusts alongside the provision of technical, regulatory and corporate finance support to the investment trust business. He was previously Head of Product Development for investment trusts where he led a number of successful IPOs, reconstructions and corporate actions.

Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Richard was a Senior Fund Manager at Aberdeen Asset Management, having previously worked in corporate finance, consulting and auditing roles within the investment trust sector at UBS Warburg and RSM Robson Rhodes. He is a graduate of Oxford University.

Matthew Norfolk-Clarke

Associate - Investor Relations and Marketing

Matt joined Frostrow in January 2022. Prior to this, Matt held a leadership position at an international boarding school having graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2017 with a BA (Hons) Degree in Physical Education. Matt then went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Matt holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification.

Neil Winward

Partner - Investor Relations and Marketing

Neil joined Frostrow in March 2023 having previously worked at Jefferies International and Stifel Nicholaus (formerly Oriel Securities Limited), where he held the position of Managing Director, Investment Banking.  Neil spent 13 years working on IPOs and helping to position UK listed companies for growth in many AIC sectors, from long only equity to alternative income vehicles. 

Neil had also spent a prior 13 years on the buyside, starting out with City of London Investment Group in September 1997, and later Quilter & Co., Dresdner Kleinwort and AXA Investment Managers, working on the investment management, product development, investor relations and sales of all types of UK listed vehicles.
